French composer and multi-instrumentalist Michel Portal has blossomed in the world of classical music as well as in that of jazz – earning him the title of “one of the architects of modern jazz.” At the Sons d’Hiver festival 2016, he returns to his album “Minneapolis” where jazz, funk and rock meet – not without shock – during long sequences of collective improvisation where each, dispossessing himself completely, invents new worlds.
