With their new program “Lontano”, the German cellist and the French pianist now cover a wide musical arc, always looking for familiar melodies that they have been accompanying and touching for a long time and that also offer enough space for improvisation and individual arrangements.
They found what they were looking for: Giya Kancheli, Anouar Brahem and others. François Couturier wrote new pieces for the duo, acting as a counterpoint linking their improvisations and free interpretations. In addition, several small improvised pieces pay tribute to composers (Bach, Mompou, Gurdjeff, Silvestrov…)
