The great Rhoda Scott began playing “the most beautiful instrument in the world”, the organ, at the age of 7, after discovering it in a local church. It all began when she took off her shoes to work the pedals, inaugurating a tradition that has endured ever since. Here, for this 2018 performance at Jazz à Vienne, she is joined by the famous ‘Lady Quartet’, made up of three renowned musicians: drummer Julie Saury, saxophonist Sophie Alour and trumpeter Airelle Besson (who was unable to attend and is replaced by Julien Alour). Together, they create a powerful music, full of character and complexity.
