To mark the 300th anniversary of the publication of Antonio Vivaldi’s masterpiece The Four Seasons, this musical film offers a double journey: both a complete performance of these four iconic concertos and a vivid account of their genesis through the composer’s life. The complete concertos are performed by the Europa Galante ensemble, conducted by Fabio Biondi, in the prestigious setting of the Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia in Venice. At the same time, the film traces Vivaldi’s destiny through the seasons of the year and the cities of his life. Guided by Marina Chiche—a violinist, author, and communicator renowned for her ability to make music accessible and lively—we follow Vivaldi through the places that shaped his career: Venice, where he was born; Mantua, where he composed The Four Seasons; Amsterdam, where the work was published in 1725; and finally Vienna, where his story ends.
