Les Trans Musicales welcomes the project of Yannis Philippakis and his collaborators, a unique and moving musical experience.
In 2016, Yannis Philippakis, frontman of Foals, fulfilled a dream by spending two days recording in Paris with legendary drummer Tony Allen. Their project, blending rock, funk, jazz, and dub, resulted in several tracks despite scheduling challenges and the Covid-19 pandemic. After Tony Allen’s passing in 2020, Yannis completed the _Lagos Paris London_ EP, a tribute to his mentor, released under the name _Yannis and the Yaw_. The project embodies a blend of nostalgia and modernity and opens the door to possible future collaborations. On stage, the group channels the spirit of Tony Allen with Vincent Taurelle (keys), Vincent Taeger (drums), Dave Okumu (guitar), and Seye Adelekan, also a member of Gorillaz (bass), all musicians close to the late drummer.
