Ten years after the release of _Gently Disturbed_, the Israeli double bassist reunited with the two musicians who set the jazz world ablaze alongside him: pianist Shai Maestro and drummer Mark Guiliana.
At the time, he swore by them—and time proved him right. When Avishai Cohen decided to form a trio built on their talent, Shai Maestro was just 19, and Mark Guiliana, 28, was still relatively unknown. Since then, Maestro has established himself as one of the most sensitive pianists of his generation, while Guiliana, with his electro- and pop-infused drumming, has collaborated with artists like Brad Mehldau and even David Bowie.
Cohen had a keen eye for talent, and those who attended their concerts back then still remember the electrifying heights they could reach, their deep musical interplay fueling each other’s inspiration. Given how far these musicians have come since, this decade-long reunion felt like a true event.
