Anglo-Nigerian singer and composer Ola Onabulé has always had an interest in pushing back cultural and musical boundaries. Her baritone, spanning three and a half octaves, is the perfect instrument for this. Al Jarreau has had a significant influence on his singing and composing style. Today, Ola is at home in jazz, R&B and soul, as well as pop, and is in great demand as an artist the world over. The programme includes adaptations by Ed Partyka of Ola’s original compositions, as well as new arrangements written especially for the evening by the band’s leader and the soloists of the Zurich Jazz Orchestra.
