Hermeto Pascoal is a prolific musician and composer who transcends all attempts at categorization. He often uses unusual instruments: teapots, children’s toys, plastic boxes, found objects here and there, and even (without harming them) live animals. He uses nature as a basis for his compositions, as in Música da Lagoa, where the musicians immersed in a lagoon make bubbles and play the flute. He is an energetic and virtuoso soloist who can play with ease almost any instrument: keyboard instruments, bandoneon, saxophone, guitar, flute, various brass instruments, percussion and various folk instruments.
