Musicawi Silt – no other song hits the nail on the head for a complete genre as this masterpiece on Hailu Mergia’s Album «Tche Belew» (1977). Back then, the keyboarder and accordionist, together with his band Walias and musical companion Mulatu Astatké, founded Ethio-Jazz. In the early 80’s, Mergia interrupted his musician’s career and fled from Ethiopia to the USA, where he worked as a taxi-driver until 2014, when the music treasure blog Awesome Tapes in Africa once again published his music.
