AH! OH! A CONTEMPORARY RITUAL is Kat Válastur’s second choreography this season. This group piece invents a contemporary ritual linked to the tradition of circular dances. In the center of a gigantic circle of light, six dancers with their hands in their pockets form an ageless community.
Stroboscopic lights, powerful musical waves, the climate is disturbing. They come closer, gradually form a circle, arms reach out to each other ready to touch.
In vain, the group disperses, divides, gathers… the tension that develops awakens consciousness. The choreographer questions today’s society in the face of its traditions: has the dominant individualism definitively cut us off from the collective?
