Gregory Porter: Don’t Forget Your Music

Gregory Porter Don’t Forget Your Music is an inspirational story of a unique musical talent. Told through candid interviews, and exclusive access-all-areas coverage, the story traces the Grammy-award winner’s journey to international fame.

There is no doubt Porter is special, his story is particularly poignant in the current American zeitgeist, yet Porter transcends to represent the next generation in the American Jazz story.
The camera loves Porter; he is a mountain of a man, softly spoken who strikes a sartorial presence in an eclectic mix of tailored suits, waistcoats and his now famous Jazz hat.

The documentary contains interviews and contributions from Porter’s family, music industry figures and some of the world’s most influential musicians.
In a time when the world and media is obsessed with making instant stars through reality TV and social media, this film shows that at the heart of success must be raw talent and self-belief.

“You have to experience life before you sing it”.
– Gregory Porter

Les Contes d’Hoffmann with Juan Diego Florèz at the Opera de Monte-Carlo 2018 in 4K

Offenbach’s last opera: a first for Juan Diego Florèz

Les Contes d’Hoffmann is the masterpiece of Jacques Offenbach who died before seeing his greatest dream come true: to be recognized as a talented and profound opera composer.

Inspired by short stories by Ernest Theodor and Amadeus Hoffmann (The Sandman, The Cremona Violin and The Lost Reflection), this unique fantasy opera features the dramatic, improbable and unrequited passionate love affair of the poet Hoffmann, an endearing and zany character, in search of the absolute feminine ideal. Three passions, three female figures: Olympia, a doll, an automaton more real than life, Antonia, singer with a tragic end and Giulietta, a courtesan for whom Hoffmann loses his soul.

Here the Monte-Carlo Opera hosts world-renowned tenor Juan Diego Florèz, who for the first time interprets Les Contes d’Hoffmann. For this long-awaited role, he is accompanied by the singer Olga Peretyatko, who combines all three female roles. This production directed by Jean-Louis Grinda, also Director of the Opera, is set to music by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir led by Quebec chef Jacques Lacombe.
