Time and Space

In production – available for coproduction or prebuy
Genre: Dance, Krump
Director/Author: Jonathan Steuer
Duration: 6×5′ or 1×35′

Six stories, six places, six sequence shots and bodies in movement: this is the proposal of TIME and SPACE.
Whether in the street, in a desert or in a dilapidated underground, dance becomes the central element of a staging of singular stories, carried, for each episode, by an artist.
Between documentary fiction and dance clip, each episode will be the object of a different narration thanks to a style of realization which will be specific to it; the formats, the global tone, the references used will be different from one episode to another.

One of the specificities will be the use of a single sequence shot per episode. This allows the viewer to be totally immersed in the environment of the episode, in a fluid and raw way.
Each episode will highlight a different dance style or culture, classical, contemporary, hip-hop, etc. This allows for a variety of stories, offering the viewer the possibility of discovering universes that he or she is not familiar with.

Phare Circus « same but different »

In production – available for coproduction or prebuy

Phare Circus was created in Siem Reap in 2013, near the temples of Angkor, one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. Success quickly hit Phare Circus, ranked as the number 1 attraction by internet tourists. Through a series of everyday situations, SAME BUT DIFFERENT explores the different habits and lifestyles between Cambodians and foreign visitors. A sudden downpour, an unexpected power outage, a hectic boat ride and a relaxing dinner are all settings for funny encounters and opposing perspectives. But in each situation, locals and tourists come to understand each other and connect humanly. Phare artists share their own vision of cultural differences, poking fun at themselves and others. The musical creation will assimilate western instruments and melodies to its millennial cultural heritage, to superimpose: the Gamelan orchestra to the drums, the zither to the synthesizer and the hip-hop bass to the wooden xylophone. On stage, the mix of theater with acrobatics, balance, juggling, and dance is carried by tragicomic characters.

Béjart Ballet Lausanne “Ballet for Life”

Using Mozart’s arias and Queen’s greatest hits, Maurice Béjart wanted to create an incredible culture shock: the question of desire and love in the age of AIDS, the shadow of death at the height of a vital act…

From the opening, the emotion and nostalgia are there, the dancers lying in their white shroud come to life on the song “This Is A Beautiful Day”, and carry us away to the sound of Freddie Mercury’s unique voice, to which they really give life. The 37 dancers who share the stage, dressed in Gianni Versace’s costumes, give us a wild performance of Béjart’s choreography.

Ballaké Sissoko & the Kora, stories of an instrument without borders

This film will take us on an intense musical and cultural journey with the musician Ballaké Sissoko. In Mali, Gambia, Senegal and France where he lives, we will follow him closely to discover his career and his favorite instrument, the kora. By accompanying him in his life as an artist, we will draw up a portrait of the man as he is, and tell the story of his instrument, from its origin to our days.

The kora is the emblem of Mandingo culture. An entire world is held in this 21- strings harp, a world which contains thousand stories and an infinity of possibilities. It comes from a specific region of West Africa, and today has travelled the whole world and met all the cultures (one can hear its sound featured in pieces by Herbie Hancock, Jordi Savall, Björk, Damon Albarn, Tiken Jah Fakoli…). This instrument is the main gateway to the world of Mandinka culture. We follow Ballaké Sissoko to discover the mythical and historical origins of the kora, listening to its voice as it is expressed today in the festivals and celebrations of Mali, Senegal and Gambia, and imagine its future.
